Berkeley County EMS Medic 11 is strategically stationed at the Hanahan Fire Department Headquarters, Station 1. This ambulance is staffed and managed by the fine people of Berkeley County EMS and is primarily responsible for providing advanced pre-hospital care to the City of Hanahan and its surrounding areas.
Hanahan Fire Department's Commitment to Patient Care
The City of Hanahan Fire Department is committed to delivering the highest level of patient care to all citizens. Our commitment is demonstrated through the following standards:
- Personnel Certification: All Hanahan Fire Department firefighters are required to be certified to a minimum level of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic.
- Advanced Staffing: Our staff includes several highly trained Paramedics who possess the skills to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care.
- Rapid Medical Response: Fire apparatus often respond to medical incidents, and typically arrive first, because of their strategic stationing and speed. When the fire apparatus arrives, citizens receive the same high-quality care, or an equivalent level, to that provided by an ambulance until the transport unit arrives to facilitate transport to an appropriate medical facility.
Introducing the C.A.R.E. Unit
The City of Hanahan Fire Department is also preparing to deploy a new Community Assistance and Rapid EMS (C.A.R.E.) unit. This initiative is designed to enhance rapid response times in critical areas of the city, further ensuring timely medical intervention.
