The Hanahan Building and Code Department’s mission is to promote the public safety, health and general welfare by ensuring the structural strength, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation of all structures within the City of Hanahan. The Building Department’s goal is to enhance safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment. The department accomplishes their mission with a maximum goal in customer service and efficiency for its citizens and businesses of Hanahan. Potential hazards could arise from:

• Alteration
• Demolition
• Removal
• Repair
• Use and occupancy of buildings, structures or premises
