Property Owners must submit the application for tree removal either online or in person.

A tree removal permit shall be required to authorize the removal of a tree for all species of trees that are eight (8) inches or more in diameter at breast height (DBH). The permit shall be authorized only for the following trees or conditions.

  • Trees that may threaten health or property.

  • Diseased or infectious trees and trees in decline.

  • Trees or their root systems causing visible damage to structures or areas used for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

  • Trees or their root systems causing damage to areas used for pedestrians, vehicular movement, or underground utility lines.

  • Trees within road and utility rights-of-way and easements that cannot be properly pruned by the local utility company.

  • Trees on land actively managed for forestry and/or harvesting.

The following are exempt from protection; however, a permit application is still required.

  • Pines
  • Sweet Gums
  • Wax Myrtles
  • Crepe Myrtles
  • Bradford Pears
  • Water Oaks
