Certified Police Officer (Full-Time)
Summary:
The Hanahan Police Department is accepting applications for Full-Time Police Officers.
Police Officer Position:
Responds to calls for service that are routine/emergency in nature, conducts traffic enforcement, and enforces the South Carolina Code of Laws and the City of Hanahan Municipal Ordinances.
Minimum Requirements include:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must be a high school graduate
- Must have no criminal convictions
- Must be of good moral character
- Solid driver record with no convictions for Driving Under the Influence within the past 10 years. Convictions for Driving Under Suspension within the past 5 years will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Police Officer Selection Process
- Police Officer Selection Test (POST Test), which includes a reading , writing, and comprehension test
- Physical Agility Test as mandated by the SC Criminal Justice Academy
- Initial interview conducted by senior patrolmen and supervisors within the department
- Polygraph Examination
- Final interview conducted by the Command Staff of the police department
- Medical examination, drug screen, and psychological examination

Starting Salary:
$48,007.44 Uncertified, $50,503.00 Certified (negotiable with experience)
