Volunteer

The Hanahan Recreation Department utilizes volunteer coaches for our youth athletic teams. These volunteers are typically parents of registered players, but we are always open to a coach who may not have a child in the program. Our practices and games are run 2x per week, so an average time commitment for a coach would range from 2-4 hours per week. A typical season will run for 2-3 months, with breaks around certain holidays. While coaching experience is sometimes a positive, it is not a necessity to our selection process. We prefer to teach basic sports knowledge, while demonstrating fair play and good sportsmanship. Depending on the sport, we may play games against nearby towns, but all practices and the majority of games will always be played in Hanahan.
